Limited space available for 2007 International Youth Sports Congress Make Arrangements Now To Attend the WTLE Looking for an activity that provides exercise, improves math skills, teaches etiquette, requires focus, reduces stress, and is – oh, yeah – lots of fun? Archery is gaining in popularity all over the U.S. in schools, recreation districts, home-school associations, retirement communities, and clubs. Once administrators see the National Safety Council’s numbers ranking archery as one of the safest sports, once they understand just how easy and affordable it is to set up and run an archery program, and once their first class fills up with happy participants who want more…it’s no surprise that Archery is the hot new trend in recreation. Leave No Child Inside Photo Contest Leave No Child Inside is the theme of the 2008 Arizona Parks and Recreation Annual Conference. The conference activities and programs will educate, share, celebrate and expand on all aspects of understanding people’s connection with nature. The best way we can think to learn about Arizona’s collective meaning of Leave No Child Inside is to see it in pictures. Submit your photos and join us at the conference! |

With conference still fresh in our minds, I want to thank AJ Rico and Wayne Barnett for a fabulous job in coordinating one of our most successful conferences ever. Attendance was record-breaking and the quality of speakers was top-notch. Your work to produce this conference has truly been a commitment to our profession and to the members of APRA, and for that, I thank you. |

Joel Weeks - who just completed 28 consecutive APRA conferences, how do we begin to thank you for your commitment? Under your leadership, our Park Maintenance Branch has new leadership. Your conference committee did an outstanding job putting together a special park maintenance package that included sessions specifically designed for the front-line park maintenance professional, as well as the ever-popular maintenance rodeo. Because of your service Joel, APRA is better than it was a year ago and I am better because of you. Thank you Joel for an incredible year as President of the Arizona Parks and Recreation Association. APRA is a professional membership organization for park, recreation and leisure providers in Arizona. Our Executive Director, Ira Rubins, spoke at conference about the state of our association. He talked about what we do for our members, and in summary he said: · We provide education · We provide information and networking opportunities · We support legislation that will strengthen parks and recreation. |
