    As illustrated by the case described, herein, there are two sets of rules for determining whether a public facility complies with the accessibility requirements under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Public facilities in which construction was completed prior to the effective date of the ADA (January 26, 1992) are subject to less stringent program accessibility requirements than ADA accessibility standards for new construction and alterations to existing facilities.

    NRPA's latest Park Pulse Poll finds that park and recreation amenities are popular among vacation goers. Tourism plays an important role in the success of park and recreation agencies and many agencies run some of the most popular vacation destinations. Of those polled, nearly half prefer vacation destinations that are secluded and relaxing. Gen X'ers and Millennials believe that areas offering recreation options for kids and adults are important and Baby Boomers prefer areas with scenic views and wildlife.

    Today marks the 4th anniversary of our loss of 19 wildland firefighters to the Yarnell Hill Fire. The CNN program, "Beyond the Call of Duty" helped to remember the day with a segment filmed at Arizona's first Memorial State Park that honors our fallen heroes.

    The National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) announced the top four candidates for the Gold Medal Award, including Arizona State Parks and Trails as a finalist. Over the last two years, Arizona State Parks and Trails has established a self-sufficient funding structure, achieved record visitation and revenue and implemented a plan to reinvest in the system and create new parks.
